A quick question: How are seats allotted in coaches considering ideal no-preference condition. So suppose in a 64-berth 3A coach 64 similar aged people start booking tickets one by one without giving any berth preference, which seats will be allotted first? The ones at the center of the coach or will it start from seat no.1?

Also, I just booked a ticket in a special train where just 40 seats have been booked out of 8 3A coaches and I selected B8 under coach ID. Was allotted 39 which is the center most SLB. Thus this question came to my mind.
actually it may be depends on cancellations
suppose if i had cancelled my ticket in Dakshin, those may be allotted to next ticket booking pax

If I am not wrong 1st bay and 8th bay are mostly alloted to tatkal passengers.
Not sure, though whenever I have booked on ARP I used to get either 1-8 or the other end.
But whenever I booked tatkal tickets most of the time I got seat either in 1st or 8th bay
