Some more points that I would like to add up:-
North Central Railways:- Workhorse of Indian Railways
Eastern Railways:- Oldest & once largest zone (SER,ECR..parts of NCR,ECor.Ooh and I forgot present ER as well)
South East Central Railways:- Most Robust zone, has only two divisions yet one of the highest earning zones. (Correction, has 3 divisions NGP,BSP & R)
ER
...
& SER, CR & WR:- Only two cities are HQs of two zones Kolkata & Mumbai
SR:- Third Largest zone
WR:- Second Largest Zone
ER,SER,Calcutta Metro:- All these have Calcutta as HQs, only city to have 3 zones as HQs. (Calcutta Metro is fully owned by IR, and it is often considered as the 17th zone)
