Bro don't distinguish MAO with VSG.... THERE IS LOTS OF DIFFERENCE
MADGAON ( MAO )
1- Platforms= 3 + 2 underconstruction
2- Loop Lines= 5 + 1 ( Main Line PNVL - MAJN )

3- Stabling Lines= 1 ( on Main Station ) + 2 MPT Branch ( Mostly used for Goods Unloading ) Total= 3
4- Pitlines= 1 which can Accomodate only 21 Coach Rake
5- Manually Coach Cleaning
6- Coach Care Center + Minor Repair Facility

VSG pitlines can accommodate a whole 24 coach rake. Last year VSG PNBE was running with 2 extra SL coaches so total 23 coaches plus two Alcos as link and was parked on the pitlines. You can easily see in above link that there are besides 3 platforms there are a total of 7 additional lines. I'm not as much technically aware as you I agree but washing of rakes at VSG is done at the second last and third last tracks ie. 8th and 9th lines and 10th one is used for parking the spare Goa express rake. Besides even with manual cleaning VSG bound trains are on terms with MAO ones. Goa express departing from VSG, VSG YPR and its RSA partners. VSG QLM is cleaned at the platform itself. VSG HWH had a secondary maintainance at VSG so basic cleaning takes place at platform too. It is way...

underutilized than Madgaon. MAO is like a child to KR whereas VSG a stepchild to SWR so some advanced facilities are enjoyed by Madgaon.
In MG days Madgaon was not even fit to be called a terminal whereas Vasco is a terminal from the beginning itself.

Don't know but in the reign of Shri Suresh Prabhu as RM it may complete at a remarkable pace. I'm more interested in Hospet Vasco track doubling as the nearest station to my hometown ie. SVM will be directly benefiting by it.
