As this is now a fully electrified route (including MTP-CBE), two stops can be introduced at Karamadai and Periyanaickenpalayam. It will be very useful and will not incur much wastage of time. Just 1 minute halt will be sufficient. Platforms are not long enough but passengers are ready to manage.
According to me there is no requirement of stoppage at Periyanaickenpalayam as this stop falls withing the Coimbatore City itself, Karamadai can be ok, but I think it is also not necessary as of now, because this Niligiri is only the first train which leaves towards Chennai at night, and this train stops at Coimbatore for at least 20 minutes, so to be on time Extra Stops are not necessary. The other way could be adding the more passenger trains, MEMU towards Coimbatore.
Karamadai can be considered. One more main requirement for us is to accommodate all 24 coaches of blue at MTP. MTP pitlines and the station has to revamped so that it can be an additional terminal for CBE. Next is construction of the old BG line like a byepass to PTJ ( which was existent few decades back) so that Blue can continue from CBE to IGU without Loco reversal. This can help MTP a lot and it can be a secondary terminal for CBE side as CBE is saturated
MTP station should be surely upgraded.
Karamadai stop will be very much appreciated and won't cause much delay.
Reversal delay not a problem as most of the passengers board at CBE Main only. Attaching extra coaches takes more time.
