The Railways has expedited the work of the Bhubaneswar New railway station on the outskirts of the city which is being developed as a satellite station of the existing one. The new station has been planned in view of the heavy traffic at the main station.
As per plan, it will have nine rail lines and seven platforms along with two foot over bridges. Work on the station will be completed by December end, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said.

According to ECoR, the work has been divided into two phases. The construction work of the two phases would be completed by June end and December end this year respectively.
