Run Vijaypur-Mumbai train six days a week'
Committee urges govt to provide better train facility
Vijaypur: Vijaypur Broad-gauge Monitoring Committee (VBMC) President Vishwanath Bhavi, in a letter written to South Western Railway general manager, has urged the Union railway minister to convert Vijaypur to CST Mumbai train that runs twice weekly as six days a week train.
He has pointed out that the Solapur...

He has suggested that the train that leaves Sholapur at 8.30 pm could be made to start at 5-30 from Vijaypur. He said that a direct train from Vijaypur to Mumbai has been the demand since the conversion of the railway line from meter-gauge to broad-gauge.
Referring to Sholapur to Mysore Golgumbaz Express, he said that the train was introduced as a superfast train. But till now it has remained only as an express train. As a result of which, the running time of the train is abnormally long. He pointed out that the VBMC has been consistently insisting on making the train a 'super fast' one but to no avail. He urged the railway minister to change the timings of the train and make it start from Bangalore at 8:00 pm and reach Vijaypur at 9:00 am and on its return journey, make the train start from Vijaypur at 6.30 pm and reach Bangalore at 8 am.
Referring to Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express running nine times a week between Bangalore and New Delhi, he said that it has been a long standing demand to make the train run via Gadag, Bagalkot and Vijaypur. But the plea has remained unfulfilled. He urged the railway minister to announce the change of the route of the train in the ensuing budget.
He has said that none of the demands of the Committee are arbitrary to the stand of the railway minister that no new train would be introduced in the budget. He has appealed to the minister to fulfill the just demands of the people of Vijaypur, Bagalkot and Gadag.
