A few points to note :-
1. Those numbers are actually, simulation results. In real life, N number of other variables get added up as well.
2. It was officially replied by IR that WAP7 locos can be relatively more effective up to 130 km/h only, w.r.t. WAP5.
3. No matter what the TE is, the loco has to haul its own dead...

Don't worry. In next 3 years, all sheds will be equipped to handle all types of 3-phase locos, according to the latest circular of the railway board. They'll take P5 later. :D
in current scenario speeds>130 Kmph don't make much sense and so i considered only till 130 Kmph.
i knew of short time ratings, but you can drive your loco at those loads for few minutes only. also the heat generated has to be dissipated, and considering that seasons in many parts of south of India are hot, hotter and hottest ( :P ) there may be a derating factor involved.
as a passenger loco P5 is obviously superior for high speed ambitions of IR, but currently i'm not sure that is the case....

tab tak spanish rakes aur imported rakes bhi aa jayenge which wont need waps :p
Even with SCR, the reason for rejecting was more about convenience. LGD already has a sizeable fleet of WAG9 locos. And, other than the gear ratio and software changes, WAP7 is nothing but a white WAG9 :P . So, adding WAP7's would not cost them anything as there is no infrastructure change needed. Whereas adding WAP5's needs quite a lot of infrastructure changes. I hope sheds which are still not in the 3 phaser list, like BZA and AJJ get to home WAP5's.
