two trains race through ER's HB Chord in both directions back to back. One of them is a SHATABDI, and the other is a JAN SHATABDI. But on this occasion, the two trains cross each other instead of chasing!!
Powered by 20071 WDP- 4 of SGUJ shed, the Fastest Diesel Train of INDIAN RAILWAYS, i.e. 12042 New Jalpaiguri (NJP)- Howrah (HWH) SHATABDI Express cruises past the massive Bally curve, and meets 22326 WAP- 4E of HWH shed hauled 12023 Howrah (HWH)- Patna (PNBE) JAN SHATABDI Express.
The JAN SHATABDI follows the Howrah- Burdwan- Asansol- Madhupur- Jasidih- Jha Jha- Patna route. By covering a distance of 532 kms, it is the second longest JAN SHATABDI of our country.
The SHATABDI, which is the only Diesel hauled train in India to run at 130 km/hr, is the fastest connecting train between North Bengal and South Bengal, and covers the 566 kms journey in 8 hours flat. The closest competitors for this train are the Darjeeling Mail, and Padatik Express, but those two trains take more than 10 hours. The train has been given an extremely aggressive schedule, where it have to maintain an average speed of 70 km/hr even after covering most of the journey through stretches where MPS varies between 90- 110 km/hr with numerous PSRs and TSRs.
