The Jharkhand state government is trying hard to convert Ranchi into a Railway zone that will cover the entire state. Currently the state is covered under 3 separate zones that are headquartered in other states :
South Eastern Railway - Kolkata (WB)
Eastern Railway - Kolkata (WB)
East Central Railway - Hajipur (Bihar)
CM
...
Raghubar Das has sent a letter of recommendation to the Railway minister with concerns and explanations around this request. He has explained how several critical railway projects have been delayed just because the zonal head quarters don't pay full attention to Jharkhand. A local zone will prevent such roadblocks and will prove fruitful for the development of the state.
In my opinion, these points are valid. Either the South Eastern Railways HQ be shifted to Jharkhand or a new zone be created. Requesting fellow IRFians to share their opinion. #NewZone

Re# 1777315-40
Are you nuts or do you hate Jharkhand sincerely, to make such stupid statements.
Please don't drag your issues into the railway matters of our state. We have been separated for good over 15 years, and trust me we are better off than when we were under Bihar.
We may face many problems of our own, but we don't spill out venom against others like your Biharis are so fond of doing.
We

don't compare the multiplexes of our cities and fight for their superiority on a private railfanning site. We don't engage in pretty quarrels over the revenues earned by our stations!
Every one has a right to development and we are just asking for our rights whether you like it or not.
Separate zone for Jharkhand would come out soon whether you like it or not!
Haha, are you joking! Seriously DHN was the first station in Jharkhand to be awarded A1 status way in 2009-10 even before your beloved GAYA/MGS.
And last time I checked DHN gave more revenue than both GAYA & MGS inspite of having so many less trains originating from here. Give the number of originating trains that a DBG has, and then you can compare. Comparision should always be made on an equal footing, DHN has given that earning consistently just by the sheer virtue of it's location and ER's grace.
Oh and yes DHN does earn more than TATA, TATA got upgraded to A-1 status only this year.
And how dare you compare Ranchi to Patna?
Ranchi has only about 30-40 trains, so it is natural that it would have a much lower earning ratio. But still it is doing a better job in station cleanliness and passenger amenities than Patna. Do visit Ranchi station sometimes!
And more importantly Patna lies on a trunck route that Ranchi doesn't!
And sugar just for the info. Patna wasn't always like this. Go back 10-15 years, Patna was full of crap! Nobody wanted to go there. Then it got spoon-fed with so many trains, with Patna receiving almost like 10-20 trains for every budget while the rest of Bihar got nothing.
So don't feel so proud about Patna's revenue because most of that revenue comes because half of the people of Bihar come to Patna to catch their trains.
Spoon-feed that many number of trains to an important city of Jharkhand like Dhanbad/Ranchi/Tata and then comapare revenues!
For Ranchi, it is full of challenges. It is not on a trunck line and cities like Dhanbad/Tata are much better positioned than it, lying on well defined trunck routes! Thus Ranchi would never become the railhub that Patna is for Bihar, because cities like Dhanbad/Tata already have railway superiority over it.
Secondly Ranchi is a hilly area full of tunnels and speed restrictions with age-old infrastructure that is slowly been upgraded. Thirdly Ranchi is surrounded by naxalites.
Mungeri Lal, while it is easy to criticize any state, there is a saying that 'People living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones at others!' You think about your own state, let us think about it's well being. For over 45 years you gave nothing except dog-shit to us!
Now we are on our own, let us fend for ourselves. A separate zone would come up whether you like it or not!
On the other hand Mungeri Lal I think you are worried about the state that your precious ECR would be reduced to if a new railway zone comes up at RNC/TATA/DHN and your biggest bread-earner DHN is shifted into that new zone. I guess your precious ECR would be on the streets!
Good luck and peace!
