A small change in Railways's child fare rule could ensure the availability of 20 million additional confirmed berths or seats in a year for other passengers...

Half fares without seat /berth move is a positive step for common and poor people in the reserved accommodation. Those need for the children separate seat/berth full fares have to be paid.
why does'nt rly board scrap quota / pass system for rly employees / MPs both present & ex...if half tkt rule cud release 20 m berths per year...then this rule could release at least 50 million additional berths equivalent to running 50,000 trains annually and 136 trains daily...if I have 2 children aged between 5-12, then option 1, pay for 2 half tkts without getting any seat and adjust both with myself (either they sleep or I), option 2 pay for two and half tkts and get two seats / berths, option 3 pay for full three tkts...what a ridiculous rule...i would urge rly board to increase fares and not squeeze the passengers like this...
senior citizen disc is also 50% for men above 60 yrs...the day is not far when they too would not be given any seat / berth...rlys moving in this direction only...d CA mind works like this only...maximize revenue maximize discomfort...people stop travelling...no disc to be given...then all tkts wud go to touts...touts do not book tkts themselves...they book it thru d PRS clerks of IR...
IR should be permitted half ticket for children of aged 5 to 12 without giving seat or berth.
IF two children of aged 5to 12.IR permitted to book full fare for the elder child with seat /berth.And another child half fares without seat / berth.
Some small savings for the passenger and if desired separate berth for both children for very comfort travel , then the passenger have to pay full fares for both.
