What nonsense! How can double line reduce travel time by half ? ;) It just saves crossing time which can never amount to half of total running time.

With SWR being very slow in executing projects, let's see if
all the doubling really gets completed by 2020.

Apart from this route doubling, they should concentrate on Tumkur-Davangere new line via Chitradurga and DWR-Belagavi new line via Kittur, to which State Govt is not allocating land. These lines would shorten the distance between North and South Karnataka, also help to develop the backward regions.
