In 2009, the King of Bhutan approved the final plan to build a rail link between Hashimara in West Bengal and Toribari in Bhutan. This project is being fully funded and owned by Indian Railway.
Also. Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal have agreed to begin discussions on the possibility of having a rail network connecting the four SAARC countries. So Bhutan may need Locos in near future.
