If I am correct. the 12306(via Patna) started way before the current Patna Rajdhani. Why doesn't IR now run it via the shorter Grand Chord route(via Gaya)? Most of the passengers are end to end(in either case, NDLS-PNBE already has many daily trains; adding a weekly train with few available berths won't change anything)

Even i do the same n in 12305 people book it from HWH/BWN n board from JSME.. i saw jam packed pf jab main 1st may ko JSME se 12305 le raha thaha..

Sir with few corrections.. earlier it doesn't have a stop at JSME.. HWH-MDP-PNBE-MGS-ALD-CNB-NDLS was the TT n it was a bi weakly then..
2 days Hwh Rajdhani.. 3 days DBRT Rajdhani n 2 days Patna Rajdhani.. teeno milkar PNBE se same TT share karti thi.. later on Rail Rajya Mantri Late digvijaya singh gave it halt at JSME (during NDA goverment) n then one day it halts at MDP n 2nd day halt at JSME.. later when Patna Rajdhani got LHB n got a different TT for 12309 it became weekly n stop dono MDP n JSME pe same day ho gaya.. :)

As explained by Mr. Amit, as it existed Bi-weekly with a day @ JSME & other @ MDP!!
Its nt a stupid practice, as looking out for stoppage demand & hence reduction in average speed of many trains (which eventually yield less slack & increase probability of OT, especially in Bihar), this fundamental will get very useful by keeping demand fulfilled along with stop been shared at different days!!
Look at stoppage of Magadh/Shramjeevi/Vikramshila/Maurya......thy stop @ approximately many stations, which dnt hav any impact on its revenue, but are prone to get undue

OT & derailed schedules!! If on different days, buckets of stop get created & shared bi/tri-weekly for same train..it certainly ease the stoppage load for each them, without any revenue impact along with political demand address!!
