LHF means long hood front which means the cabin of the loco is in the opposite direction of travel. SHF means short hood front which means the cabin is in the front of the diesel loco. Consider a WDP4. Sometimes the loco has its cabin side coupled to the train. That is LHF mode.

All emds are not dual cab, the initial ones which were imported or which were produed don't have dual cab. They r single cab. Dual cab system was introduced bcoz problems were reported by drivers to see in LHF mode.

Not at all. Even EMDs have single cab. What abt WDP4/4B and WDG4? They all have single cab. LPs kept complaining abt poor visibility in the LHF mode and thats why WDP/G4D were developed by DLW.
