this is so obvious that mostly people from big cities have switched to plane instead of spending huge money on premium tatkl
Not only big cities even I tried booking in Delhi-Durgapur flight as airport is 65 km of 1 hour journey via NH2. But Air India cancelled its flight citing operational reasons. Damn luck. Besides Kolkata is costliest metro in terms of air connectivity. Fares are low for DEL-BOM and DEL-BLR

You are saying this as if nobody books PT seats at all if they are in big cities. That is far from reality dude.
Look at 12301 PT. As far as what I can see, system is not allowing PT booking from Dhanbad or other intermediate stations/"small towns", so, people who are booking PT in this train are from Kolkata only right?
