Twin alcos can give a higher output compared to an EMD. Twin alcos produce 6600 HP approx. while the power output of WDP4 and its variants is just 4500 HP. Hence,twin alcos can easily manage gradients and quickly accelerate than an EMD with 20+ coach trains.
