Poor fooding/catering service is one major bloat in the name of otherwise better services of howrah / BCT raj . Is it high time now that meals should be made optional in all rajdhani/ shatabdi trains, thus saving the catering charges.

If it is made optional , it is beneficial both for railways and passengers. In shatabdis specially, lot of food get wasted and 60 % of it is generally is sold outside by caterers illegally. IRCTC is unable to manage properly the catering due to manpower and budget shortage. Passenger can save in catering charges a lot. In many routes they can easily get quality food in Rs. 300 and more.
