We friends are planning to have a trip to Matheran on 4th September. We will be getting down at Neral railway station at 7 am . Kindly please suggest from where to where we should trek for a good trekking experience through forest . Please advise.
The Neral- Matheran toy train services have been suspended and hence you would have to take a taxi from Neral. Just come out of the station through the Platform No 2 side and you would find the taxis. They would charge 80 per seat(standard rates) and drop you off at Dasturi Naka, the farthest point upto which the vehicles are allowed. From here you may take a horse or the pull carts or walk to reach Matheran. My suggestion would be to walk on as it is a great experience. It would take you 45 mins to 1 hour by walk to reach Matheran from Dasturi Naka. You would never lose your way on this trail.

This is good info. Thanks. Between, would you be able to share your thoughts on trekking from Bhivpuri to Matheran via Gorbut plateau . We can get down at Bhivpuri road station for this. Thank you!!
I can't help you with that bro as I have not done Bhivpuri-Matheran trek.
Just go to mumbaitravellers and trekmatesindia websites and search for Matheran treks and you will find some info about this trek. You can undertake an independent trek but the itnerary from their websites would be helpful.
