Is there a new rule as laid by IR, which states to write the full name of the passengers while booking tickets?
My name is B SURAJ in all my official documents, plus the railways has the provision of containing 16 characters only. My Full name is Suraj Balasubramanian and it will not fit in the 16 character space. Last day I had a tough time in the PRS counter, explaining the person that Suraj is my First name and the ID proof shows B SURAJ only. After all this, I got the ticket after showing him my ID car.

whatever u have mentioned in official document, u should write that only.

Write the same name which is mentioned on your ID proof which you would be carrying at the time of travel. If it's B. Suraj, then write down the very same.
Yes sir, I wrote that only, the booking clerk was a non south Indian guy and thought that B as to be my First Name and Suraj as the last name.
