transporter is in the process of acquiring ultra high speed technology.
More Information:
“Technological inventions are transforming transportation. The average speed of all Indian Railways’ trains should increase. Now we are dreaming of an India where it doesn’t take more than 12 hours to travel from one part of the country to the other,” Prabhu said at the International Conference on Technology for Ultra High-Speed Rolling Stock for operation of trains at maximum speed of 500 kmph and above at New Delhi.
He said "railways want to reduce travel time by running high speed trains and was in favour of developing ultra high-speed technology under Make in India programme".
The conference evoked interest from all majors in the field of ultra high speed. Leaders like HyperLoop Transport Technology, USA, Quadralev USA, Talgo, Spain, RTRI Japan, Siemens Germany, Knorr Bremse, Germany, Prose Switzerland took part in the day-long meet.
As part of ‘Make in India’ initiatives, the Railway Minister invited all major global players to become partner and help India put on hyper speed trains, a step ahead of high speed which includes the ambitious Bullet Train between Mumbai and Ahemdabad.
He said that speed of implementation of speed will take time, but the Indian Railways have begun it from somewhere. “The speed at which the idea of high-speed trains & enhancing speed of all trains has been carried forward is great,” he said.
The railway minister also announced that Talgo, a Spanish manufacturer of intercity, standard, and high speed passenger trains, which conducted a successful trial on Indian tracks recently, is now keen setting up manufacturing unit in India. This will give impetus to PM’s Make In India dream.
The conference took place before the opening of an Expression of Interest tender for developing, constructing and running a Ultra High Speed Railway system in India on PPP basis. It is expected that the EOI will give a full view of emerging technologies available in the world in this frontier area of railway technology and enable Indian Railway to move to the next step of sanctioning a project.
