Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e. 23rd September, 2016. Addressing the media, Shri Ravindra Gupta said that South Central Railway which came into existence on 2nd October 1966 would attain magnificent moment of completing 50 years in the service of the Nation on 2nd October 2016. To mark this historic moment of celebration, SCR is planning to hold several programmes from 2nd October, 2016.
The Golden Jubilee Logo of SCR prominently carries the years of service in Gold, signifying the valuable relationship built with the rail users over the years. The Iconic Sir Alec Steam Engine which stands prominently in front of Rail Nilayam, SCR’s headquarters at Secunderabad is etched in the centre to symbolize the proud heritage of the Zone. The Six Stars, markedly visible in the centre represent the Six vibrant Divisions of SCR namely Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded which play a prime role in shaping the destiny of the Zone and convey the people connect.Shri Ravindra Gupta also elaborated on the activities of Swachhta Saptah being held on the Zone from 17th to 25th September, 2016. He informed that South Central Railway constantly endeavouring to realise the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat mission through Swachh Rail initiatives. To that effect, 9 day long cleanliness drive is underway as Swachhta Saptah in which Swachhta drives are being taken up on different themes. The drives are being conducted with participation at every level of the organization starting from General Manager to employees in the field. A large number of Voluntary organizations, NGOs are also involved in the campaign to assist railways in its effort of spreading cleanliness message and awareness amongst rail users.
The General Manager said that several drives have been conducted from 17th to 21st September and a total of 2751 passengers on platforms and 1591 passengers in trains were interacted personally by various officials regarding cleanliness and hygiene. Under anti-littering drive a total of 3764 persons were penalized and a fine to the tune of Rs.7.51 lakhs was collected as penalty. In order to ensure proper segregation of garbage at stations, about 783 dustbins were also additionally provided at platforms of various major stations. A total of 2308 water samples from various points were taken and tested for residual chlorine. In total 64 samples are found not meeting the norms and corrective action was taken to improve the quality of water, he added.
Shri A.K. Gupta, Addl, General Manager, Shri N. Madhusudhana Rao, Chief Operations Manager, Shri P. Ganeswara Rao, Chief Commercial Manager, Shri Solan Gupta, Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri N.V. Ramana Reddy, Chief Personnel Officer and other officials were present.
