Can I book tatkal ticket in Rajdhani from New Delhi to Surat? I am asking because whenever I checked on IRCTC it always showed NOT AVAILABLE status for Rajdhani Trains.

Tatkal booking not permitted for the stretch...Usually RLWL/RSWL won't be given tatkal quota which NDLS-ST falls under.
Not distance restriction RSWL/RLWL aren't permitted for tatkal booking in majority cases not only for Raj but also for SF/Mail/Express trains baring one or two exceptions..If you see even BVI booking(both normal & tatkal) isn't is permitted even though it has halt.
In Tatkal you have pay extra till surat but if you book till BCT in General quota its cheaper than tatkal till ST (If booking was allowed)..You book till BCT in general quota and get down at ST. Plenty availability is there its in RAC only now, effect of Surge pricing which could pinch you a bit.

If you want cheap alternative book in GR 12910 CKWL is just 30 now & PT availability is 122, so very chances of confirming..Else you may book PT also, it has more or less same timing to 12952 Rajdhani.
