Asking just for curiosity...between Berhampur-Kolkata there are two double lines running almost parallel to each other..i mean even on the busiest sections in India there isn't two dedicated Double lines...and second question is why the rail density around Kolkata is so high ??

Yup I understood that..but wat was the need to double both the tracks going to azimgunj via Berhampur and via the 2nd route ? Is the traffic very high in this section?
there is no bridge over Hoogle River to make any cross ...and the KOAA-AZ-NFK line take trains to NJP and futher more but KOAA-BPC line take it to LGL and it terminate here
But I must say that railway line around Kolkata is very confusing ..
Its the lifeline for thousands and there many tracks dedicated only for LOCAL EMUs, no express train crosses those section.
