i think if it is under prescribed wt limits you can carry it with you, along with documents of purchase etc. same was told once when we called to station.
but when i was carrying it in train a t.c. came and asked about it, i said i have documents and he just went off. actual tc who checks ticket did not even care for it.
but the tc at station pf has asked for documents of purchase and left us.
