This train is to be regularised for the benefit of Keralites working/staying in northern Karnataka. This is the only direct connectivity with Kerala northern Karnataka as the Hubli-Ankola rail is still a dream.

Will it be possible to extend Chalukya Express upto Ernakulam? Anyway the rakes are idling whole night at YPR. The train can start from YPR by 8 PM and reach ERS by 7 AM. Same train can start from ERS by 7 PM and reach YPR by 6 AM and continue the journey as is the case now. One additional train will be possible between Bangalore to Ernakulam by this extension. It will serve as a link also.
One more suggestion is that diverting Jayanthi Janatha from Guntakal to Solapur via Bellary, Hospet, Gadag, Bagalkot and Bijapur, instead of the present route of via Raichur, Gulbarga.
