Entry# 21450

It is a delight that this site has become very very popular, thanks to the various contributions.
However, I find that old posts as late as December 09 as an example are being replied to. I have no problem with this, BUT, and it is a BIG BUT, that in posting replies to these old blogs, the date of the latest posting pushes the OLD blog to the top of the blog! This, unless you/anyone is careful about original date of posting, finds that the journey has been performed/queries answered etc. This

is wasting time for bloggers I think, and also creating problems for new queries or ongoing debates/queries, and further increasing disk space for the blog-owner.
I would appreciate receiving the views of all concerned. Good wishes.

Thanks for bringing up the topic. What we can do is to programmatically lock all blog entries older than, say, 3 months. Then no one would be able to reply to such old entries, thus bringing them to the forefront. However, there is the risk that some of the older posts are of a general nature, and we would be blocking replies to them, by blanket locking all of them.
Going forward, we can decide whether it is upto the admins to either lock time-related entries, or to keep some general entries open, to allow people to continue adding informative replies.

Thank you for your detailed reply. Yes I agree with your thoughts. I would suggest the following to maintain the visibility: one, those with specific queries get posted first, and then the general queries. I don't know how this could be done though ! Possibly the logic can figure out Train number/name and those marked as general? Good wishes.
