Reservation Against Cancellation: RAC. You are provided a seat on the train, and you can board. When the train starts running, the ticket checking staff will see if there is any vacancy, and according to your RAC status you will/may be allotted berths, irrespective of the class. Note that TATKAL does not have RAC, nor 1AC.

I think u doing some mistakes. There is RAC available in 2TAC.

Thanks for the info and clarification. Got the message through another blogpost entry # 21560. Somewhere in the Rly Manuals, I had noticed that no RAC in 2AC class but that is no so in practice.
