The state is not childish here but realistic. Why bear 80% when so many cities' suburban systems are being built and operated by center and it never recovers the cost of operations with its heavily subsidised tickets and passes.
-
If this city is taking the load of migrant population, then its more the reason for the center to support this milch cow.

networks are built and subsidised tickets doled out to other cities, from the tax collected from here. This is where China is good at policy making. It's Shanghai which supports a lot of migrants and generates a lot of revenue for China, hence a proportionate amount of tax is re-invested back into Shangai's infra by the federal govt. there.

I wish people go around Bengaluru and see that it is much more than Tin Factory-Whitefield!!! If it is caught in jam, so be it...... its their own doing. All IT guys with their cars, never wanting to go by bus (not even AC bus) or MEMUs but only in father-in-law's dowry cars.
-
BMTC is heavily priced because it has to sustain itself, else it will croak up one day like IR. It's the largest Urban Bus transport system. Unlike the cities you mentioned, Bengaluru has no local train system built-subsidised by center. All have to depend on BMTC alone. Also here the population is more.

Metro is doing a fine job right now. The real effect will be when Swastik-KBS stretch is commissioned in the next few months. Then Tumakuru road users will breathe a sigh of relief. And when entire Green line is started then Old Bengaluru will get a lot of respite from traffic and well-deserved too.

Most of Bengaluru is doing fine, some struggle but manageable, goes with urbanisation..... Its just the IT stretch people making a lot of noise wanting this and that. They got a lot, but still expect someone to push them from home to their glass building offices in a pram. They first need to stop complaining and ask their colleagues to start using buses that will bring relief....
