Is it legal to take photos inside railway stations? Is photographer subjected to be questioned for security reasons?

why IR does not mention that in the station premises? like Metro.
If it's not mentioned anywhere to "Don't take pictures", why should not one click pics?

Its illegal.......it would be better to take pics in some small stations or in some vacant place near the tracks where RPFs r not present
