* In 80s all the electrified sections were in short stretches of major routes like CSTM/KYN/IGP/BSL, KYN/Pune, NDLS-MTJ, BCT-BRC-ADI and frequent changing of locos due to change of traction was causing operational problems, reduction of line capacity, long journey times, poor loco/crew utilisation etc.
* Hence it was decided that all the major trunk lines with heavy traffic shall be fully electrified from end to end and a single Eloco shall haul long distance journey through the routes. Following routes were identified for completion of end to end electrification.

* Sl. No 1-4 were completed in 1990-93 and fifth one remains pending till date. Now the ball has started rolling with commissioning of ET-Piparia, 67km section of about 600 RKM project.
