Chenganur is about 100 km and three stops before Ernakulam; change of boarding point does not arise and is not possible. He has to buy an open ticket and get into the train. If his berth is vacant he can occupy it; but the TTE may charge him difference in fare without telescopic fare benefit. If the berth is occupied, he may have to travel in general compartment. But as this a day time travel, the berths are likely to be vacant and the TTE may not come for checking at all in sleeper classes. But an open ticket is a must for the journey.

Boarding point can be any where in between the range covered by your ticket.
You have to approach the PRS counter with a written request at least 24 hour before the scheduled departure time of the journey originating station of your ticket.
You will not get any refund for the unused portion of the journey.
Change in boarding
...

point is permitted only once for a journey. It is irreversible.

If it would have been before or after ERS, Boarding change isnt applicable, as its not permissible (Change of boarding can be applied once & cant be changed afterwards)!!

100 KM before have effect, but when boarding changed once, need not be discussed.
+-2-3-4 stops doesnt impact on Boarding Change!!
