* OMG! now metro being planned for Dehradun, a city with population of just 7.06 lacs(2011) & estimated current population of just 8.39 lacs.
* More surprising is the route length which will be a whopping 100kms with an astronomical cost of Rs 27000 crores!
* There is no mention of the expected traffic and revenues to pay back loans!...

* With the volume of traffic expected for a city of 8 lacs, it is a recipe for financial disaster.

* Earlier CG Govt announced a Metro train for Durg to Raipur-45km (Phase-1) with 20 stations at cost of Rs 6000 Crore(2013 price) with much fanfare. Population coverage was about 23lacs (2011) and 27 lacs (with current estimated population)
* An estimated traffic of 28 lacs per month exist between 2 cities which is likely to swell to 36lac per month by 2021(the planned year of commissioning)
* Total project in 3 phases from NayaRaipur-Raipur-Bhilai-Durg-Rajnandgaon of about 130kms would have costed Rs. 20,000 crores(2013 price).
* DMRC have approved the construction of first phase in Sep'13, and by Apr'15 the project was in cold storage due to lack of funds.
