Elevation between Kasara (293m)and Igatpuri (589m) is 296m. Difference between Palakkad (80m) and Coimbatore (417m) is 337m which is greater than 296m. Why bankers are not used in this section.

Because of distance factor
Distance between Kasara & Igatpuri - 14 km
So trains have to climb gradient of 296/14 = 21.14 m/km
Distance between Palakkad & Coimbatore - 56 km
Gradient is only 337/56
...
more...
= 6.01 m/km, which is very common & can be climbed easily without bankers
So, in short, Kasara-Igatpuri section is around 3.5 times more steeper than Palakkad - Coimbatore
