Presenting a complete Journey compilation on board the Shatabdi Express connecting Chennai and Mysore, though i did the journey only till Bengaluru. The Journey happened in 2014, the times when Bengaluru City was the only halt of this train. We begin our journey from Chennai on an early February morning and make our way out of the city twisting and turning through the initial 5kms. Once the mainline is joined at Perambur it is a non stop run all the way to Bengaluru. The early morning arrivals come in thick and fast. AJJ WAP1 hauling us was utilized fully and Katpadi was reached in exactly 105mins. The train used to skip Katpadi earlier and hence the slow crawl into the mainline even as the daily Superfast from Thiruvananthapuram made its way out. The run through to Jolarpettai was butter smooth, and the 84km distance was gulped down in just 60mins. After switching to the Bengaluru bound lines here, the ascent began into the ghats bordering Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu. The WAP1 made little work of the 15coach load and barreled ahead undeterred of the continuous grades and curves. Pretty soon we were knocking the gates of Bengaluru as we descended the down grade and cruised into Whitefield, subsequently thrashing Krishnarajapuram and slowing down for a speed restriction at Baiyyappanahalli. The journey took 5mins lesser than the ETA, and was one of the more memorable journeys I have ever done on this route.
