Now another unique distinction for this old warhorse !!. It has been featured amongst the top 10 crowded trains in the year 2016-2017 carrying the maximum number of passengers. New entrant in Top 10 list: Jharkhand to Kerala train, reflecting rapidly changing work migration pattern.
As per the article ' In 2013, researcher M P Joseph found that 75 per cent of migrant workers in Kerala come from West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. And that’s possibly why a train connecting Dhanbad in Jharkhand to Alappuzha in Kerala, covering 2,546 km over 57 hours with close to 100 halts, figures on the list of trains with the most passenger demand.

Yes absolutely. Who would have thought that with an avg speed of 44 km/hr and close to 100 halts, it will be favoured by so many people !! ....not only migrants , but also serves as daily connectivity to Chennai,Vellore,CBE, Cochin from the cities in Jharkhand, Orissa,Vizag etc
