As I was going through the site related announcements, I noticed the entry mentioning the introduction of the BotD feature? AFAIK,it was implemented for few days too. Why has that feature been removed now?

Because it was a flop.Many members told this feature was not needed,on first day nearly 20-40 botd was there for popular blogs.In the next day just 5-10 BOtd was there.So moderator himself removed it.
