For a train running only on Diesel traction with 24 coaches, which Loco do you prefer?

I know that. But twin alcos give more HP output for acceleration. That is why many 24 coachers were on alco twins. Take Karnataka Express. It used to get alco twins till MMR. One alco- around 3000 HP which means 2 alcos will be around 6000HP. But many alcos are aging and due to excessive smoking, EMDs are given for some 24 coaches. The concept of two alcos hauling a 24 coach was started for the purpose of better acceleration.
Not at all that is why many 24 coach links of SCR r changed from EMD to ALCO twins like
SC - TPTY Narayanadri Superfast Express
SC - HWH Falaknuma Superfast Express
KCG - SBC Superfast Express

I never said anything about acceleration. It is a fact that EMDs are more efficient than ALCos. The list you just mentioned had their links changed bcoz SCR wants to take the maximum utilisation of old WDMs which are getting overaged and are about to be scrapped.
* Under the mission raftaar, IR propose to increase the speed of freight as well as express trains by 25kmph.
* Increasing the hauling horse power to trailing load ratio is one of the several steps envisaged to achieve the goal.
* Twin WDM3 locos give 6000+hp which is higher than the 4500 hp delivered by single WDP4 loco although with higher fuel consumption. A much faster acceleration and lower journey time is possible.
