This train badly needs a speed up and also provision of additional third AC coach. It would be really helpful to passengers. With other newer trains towards Mumbai being started, somehow this train lost importance over the period of years and has been badly neglected.

There has been indications of this train getting speeded up possibly in the upcoming TT along with Kerala Exp, Mangala Exp, Kerala Sampark Kranti Exp, Mumbai & Delhi Duronto Exp, Netravathi Exp. Courtesy, news in Today's Mathrubhumi E-Paper, Palakkad Edition.

Would be good if the time change is implemented. Lets see how the so called daily passengers and various associations look up to the changes.
Last year DHN-Allp was speeded up, but passengers between ERS-Allp stalled the speeding up. Once upon a time Venad used to by pass ERS, passengers again protested stating that reaching ERN was an issue. Again railways revoked their decision. So in a nutshell it is not that easy to implement time changes that easily. But lets hope that it happens.
Also look forward whether they are able to

Why should the blame be put on the daily passengers? Trains are not run for the passengers of source and destination alone. It is important to consider the passengers at certain stations because by the change of time railway is completely wiping out an option of rail travel for them(remember island express time change and now thrissur doesnt have a good connection between ernakulam after kerala express till the executive express)

Speeding of netravati express and mangala express is absurdity because these trains hardly come right time in kerala inspite of having enough slack time. Earlier in non-monsoon time parasuram express departs kannur first followed by netravati. But after the time change the order was reversed and parasuram was always delayed because netravati never kept up the time and the former was sidelined for crossings. So time changes should not only benefit the distant passengers but daily passengers also and there should be a logic in setting the time.

For DHN-Allp, it was the due to the daily passengers between ERS-Allp who protested. There was already a passenger train from ERS-Allp at 6pm, followed by a MEMU at 7pm. What more do they require ?
In Kerala (Palakkad to Alleppey) this train is taking almost 7 hours to cover 210 km which is most ridiculous.
