1. Basava is named after the social reformer Basavanna, I think.
2. It's not Bijaynagar, it's Vijayanagara empire - the capital was Vijayanagara which is today's Hampi. There is a train named after Hampi.
Interestingly, Amrita is named after a living person .... this I gathered from an article click here
