RailFans don't miss their train. Why? Because they go to the station HOURS before the actual departure of their Train - to watch OTHER trains depart. - Prince Maan

Jnaneswari Exp tragedy happened May, 2010. Since then some trains like Howrah-Mumbai Mail, Azad Hind Exp etc are rescheduled - such trains running on the Kharagpur-Jhargram section (not Kharagpur-Adra section) are leaving Howrah next day morning/early morning to avoid night journeys in that section. For the trains towards Howrah, the same practice is being followed - avoiding night journeys between Jhargram and KGP. Some trains running in the Khargapur-Adra section have also been rescheduled/cancelled. There was a news item about a fortnight ago that IR is considering running trains on these sections during night as per original schedule.

ok...that really helped. Thank u...but if Azad Hind runs late always...why doesnt the railways reschedule the time permanently? and why does the Pune - Howrah Duronto always be on time? when it follows the same route?

If you will kindly look at the site www.indianrail.gov.in and the running status therein of such trains, you will observe that departure/arrival times are being shown as say "7 hr 30 min late". I believe anytime IR may start operating the trains as per original schedule, so they are doing so. Another thing comes to my mind that for computerised reservation system, this is convenient. Only thing, one has to be careful while making reservation: example - if someone wants to travel by Howrah-Mumbai Mail which as per present schedule will depart from Howrah by 5.30am of 06/11/2011, he has to book for the train of 05/11/2011 (departure time as per original schedule by say 8pm of 05/11/2011).
