This Duranto should take halt for [not more than] 2-3 minutes at Thane, for Navi Mumbai goers to enable them to go to their destination/home 1 to 2 Hrs. early. From Thane it is very convenient and much time-saving. [Only Nagpur-Mumbai Duranto, and NOT Mumbai-Nagpur.]

And finally.. whats wrong in doing a survey? Atleast the truth will come out as to what passengers actually need (we are already seeing a glimpse of it in this forum).

yeah..u really cannot say this bcoz..pune duronto also skips the major city mumbai(vasai road...eventhough train stops der 4 staff change..still its a technical halt..and mumbai passengers wont benefit from it)...similarly ernakulam duronto also skips 3 major cities(goa, panvel, vasai road)...mumbai howrah duronto misses nagpur..

I definately agree that a duronto could be modified as a train with a non stop run barring a few suburban commercial stops at each termini. You all have some good points. Even I agree, say for example if hwh duronto is given a halt at kalyan, then it wud be convinient for someone from panvel or pune wanting to board that train. But lets not forget Navi Mumbai and Mumbai are different cities, just as is Thane or Kalyan. So technically they are all outside mumbai city. As such not eligible for duronto stops. So if these cities end up qualifying then others on route should not have problems qualifying. Just presenting the downside of letting durontos halt at subarban stations. Kurla Dadar, borivili , cant argue on those.
And
...
Talking of burden on local trains. .... considering that majority of the durontos reach their destinations in the morning hours, I would rather be on a local train bound out of CST rather than one bound towards CST.
Lets take example of Nagpur duronto which is not terribly fast than any other fast train on the route. If time is of such essence, then these trains are available which will halt at kalyan etc.. So I hope u see that its a mixed bag.

Kalyan may be technically out of Mumbai, but not logically. This is because the suburban passengers of Mumbai use Kalyan as a station to take outstation trains. And a train which terminates at Mumbai (CST/BCT/DR/DDR/LTT/Diva/Bandra) are meant not just for Mumbai, they are also for Navi Mumbai, Thane and Panvel, since there is no logical separation between these cities and districts. So halts for Duranto at Dadar/Thane/Kalyan/Panvel/Andheri/Borivali are for the benefit of passengers from Mumbai/NaviMumbai/Thane/Panvel together.
