I am not saying that you are wrong, sir. You are perfectly correct in saying that we should check if the update is coherent and some basic common sense should be used when doing the updates. In my opinion, that should be the case only for information that is not explicitly stated by the official sources.
But I believe there should be no room for any outside input, or any individual creativity in updating schedules sir. It is IR that runs the train and decides it's schedules and operating procedures. You may 'painstakingly assimilate the TT', but we are not the ones running the train. There should be absolutely no room for error in the train's

schedule.
And just to nitpick in this case, trains getting cancelled after bookings opening is not unprecedented and for all we know, it could be an error on IRCTC's part that the bookings are still open and an official notification may have followed to the same effect. This does sound like a stretch, but again, the main point is that, we are not the ones running the train and we should, in no way, let any guesswork get into the way for the schedules.
Things like loco links, platform numbers, coach composition etc are not listed on the official website and these are also somewhat trivial things that would not affect a passenger much even if they are reported incorrectly on the website. But a schedule is something very fundamental, and there should be no room for error.

Thanks for all your responses,
You have greatly bolstered & vindicated the popular belief that how the mistake was with the process in delegating unhindered power to immature hands when it came to handling critical data.
Cheers :)

This is the current process on which the site operates:
1. We believe in delegating responsibility to new and enthusiastic RFs. So long as there is interest and good faith, we believe in bringing in new people, and trusting them with responsibility.
.
2. Members are encouraged to be BOLD with updates. We repeatedly tell members not to be too hesitant and fearful. Just

do it, if you believe it is correct.
.
3. Recklessness is discouraged. However, mistakes are welcome, so long as there is good faith. Members are expected to make mistakes - that's how they learn and mature.
.
4. Too much carefulness, thinking, analysis paralysis is not expected. Quick and fast updates, with some mistakes are fine, even if it temporarily breaks things.
.
5. FINALLY, inputs and criticisms from vigilant Sr. Members like you are very important to ensure that mistakes are fixed promptly. This kind of reactive QA results in fast updates, while assuring some level of quality in the site. (albeit not the "gold standard").
.
In summary, the entire site is built on the premise of making mistakes, and fixing mistakes quickly when they are reported.
Thanks.

Do you think raising question on the entire TLM community and calling them as 'immature hands' for a minor mistake is correct?? The member is clearly over-exaggerating things.
