The NDLS-Kanpur-Mughalsarai corridor is probably the busiest one in the IR network. A study of the timetable reveals the following pattern of traffic:-
NDLS dep at 16.10, Kanpur 21.00/21.05, Allahabad 23.08/23.10 MGS 1.18/1.28
12250 Howrah Yuva Exp on Sundays, 12440 Ranchi Rajdahni Exp (via Gaya on Tuesdays and Fridays), 12878 Ranchi GR Exp (via Daltonganj on Wednesdays and Saturdays), 12454 Ranchi Rajdhani Exp (via Daltonganj on Thursdays).

16.10 slot seems to be free on Mondays.
NDLS dep at 16.30, Kanpur 21.20/21.25, MGS 1.28/1.38
12314 Sealdah Radhani Express (daily)
NDLS dep at 17.00, Kanpur 21.37/21.42, Allahabad 23.42/23.45 MGS 1.45/1.55
12303/12306 Howrah Rajdhani Express (6 days a week via Gaya and 1 day via Patna)
NDLS dep at 17.10, Kanpur 21.47/21.52, Allahabad 23.56/23.59 MGS 1.55/2.10
12310 Rajendranagar (T) Rajdhani Express (daily)
NDLS dep at 17.20, Kanpur 21.57/22.02, MGS 2.05/2.15
22812/22824 Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Exp (daily, 3 days a week via Adra and 4 days a week via Tatanagar)
NDLS dep: 17.30 non-stop to Patna 12394 Sampoorna Kranti Express.
Add to this 12304/12382 Poorva Expresses with NDLS DEP: 16.20, Kanpur:23.35/23.40/ Allahabad 2.05/2.10 and MGS 4.40/4.55
IT IS A VERITABLE procession of Rajdhanis running behind each other at intervals of 10/20 mns. TOUCH WOOD it is a wonder that there has been no collision amongst them in all these years.

They dont run up-close but have difference of 2-3 station in between them!!
I tried to catch view of non-stop view in these section (@ various combination of station-Etawah/Aligarh/Khurja/Dankaur/Cheonki or traveling in UP Train), but either train have had high gap or if trailing Rajdhani arrived close, it moved slowly or even stopped!!

Right. But I am amazed at the way IR manages to run so many trains at very close intervals.

There are loads of Freight Traffic too!!
Plus, per KM Automatic Signal ease to some extent & the MPS make it high cover-up zone!!
Further, No Raj reports dot-in-time @ CNB/ALD but make-up before/post MGS!!

I think much of this route is under auto signalling and additionally section size is small in this route to cater for dense load.

On top of this most of the high priority trains are hauled by WAP-5/7 kind of loco for faster clearence through section.
