Travelled in Bagmati Express from MYS-MAS. Enjoyed humming of KJM emd but no mps action till SBC. Also experienced emd going from notch 1 to highest number at gradients showing the impact of gradients on trains and struggling of loco between MYS-SBC.
Spotted a BHEL G7 at Yeliyur which was used for electric run on the next day.
110 mps observed between SBC MAS and RPM P7 easily handled the gradients.
Occupancy

from MYS -SBC 24 pax per coach in sleeper which rose to 100% after SBC. Lots of pax got down at MAS.
Snacks: Dosa available from local vendors which was tasty. It is wrapped in newspaper separated by a white film which contains red chutney. No sambhar. Onion vada also available. Pantry food not up to the mark. Biryani from Katpadi was very tasty and garlic pickle was also good. However, it had too much of cabbage and onion which my mother tells me to avoid.
Eunuchs came before SBC and MAS with SWR ones more polite than SR ones .
Weather too cold between MYS-SBC and even die hard railfan will prefer railfanning from upper berth instead of footplating. Too hot between SBC and MAS.
Airtel showed better coverage than Jio in this stretch. WiFi available at all intermediate stations . Who cares .
Bihar train but no litti chokha in the pantry.

It's just a matter of time bro.U just need to wait till next year Jan. Iam sure Electric's are just gonna rock this line specially RPM and ED P7 (cauvery) but there will be certain areas where Speed will be restricted .

If the EMDs are struggling on the route, then all other locos will definitely struggle too. EMDs are currently the best in IR for hauling trains on gradients and hauling heavy loads.

Yeah, one person at Betul Railway station told me that Nagpur-bound heavy freight trains hauled by G-7/9 cannot be looped at Betul because of gradient.....they have to be given non-stop clearance......if they stop, it becomes difficult to start the train.....

If EMD struggles means , no other loco can effectively replace them and out perform . WDG has one of the best pulling power on par with WAG9
