In Orly airport (Paris) you have to take a shuttle from the airport to reach nearest railway station. There's a direct bus service from Orly to city centre, yet large no. of international passengers take the shuttle instead of bus. Of course, we can't force someone to take the shuttle over another mode, but if you look at a Bengalurean's POV, train service is better than cab/bus anyday in light of monstrous traffic jams the city experiences.
The traffic nightmare will not reduce in near future, no matter how many flyovers or expressways the govt. will build, so the sooner govt introduces a train/mass transport service that doesn't depend on road, better it will be for travellers.

you have a few well thought out points. I am not sure Orly is a good example as CDG is the main airport with more than double the passenger traffic of Orly. CDG even has direct TGV services.
The frequency of the services is also an important factor in the popularity of train/mass transit systems. The Delhi Metro frequency is 10-15 minutes. How often can the train service proposed by you operate? Even in Orly airport the shuttle is every 10 minutes or so.
I agree with you that the infrasrtucture has...

I'm proposing this more like a stopgap solution until the metro is ready. I agree that traffic between YPR and SBC is congested, and there's not much space in SBC to park rakes. But starting with 2-3 rakes I believe services can be maintained every 45min-1h. AFAIK, even BMTC bus service between airport and SBC operates at 30min frequency.
I dont want to go on and on as it is but an imaginary train :) Others may not be like me, but (in the stopgap)I for one would prefer to wait 30 min for a bus direct from the Airport than wait for 1 hour for a train (after using a bus from the Airport to the rail station), If I have too much luggage I will prefer the cab all the way home. Anyway, I dont have further points, so I wish you best of luck in having your imaginary train turn into reality
Me too :) rail activists based in Bengaluru have been demanding such services for years, hope it sees the light of the day in future.
