This railway station is a major junction station and more than a pair of trains have their reversal here. The place is not the district headquarter (Which also has rail connectivity) but is the most important station of its district. An adjoining town of this place is a very important area for the Indian Army where one of Indian National Congress' sessions were held before independence.
