It is very surprising that there is no any train from Gulbarga to Mangalore. People are facing so much problem of transportation especially the hostelites. Since there no direct train connectivity people have to rush out to bus tickets. This is a major problem for the Passengers of Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Bellary that they don't have direct railway connectivity to Arsikere, Hassan and ultimately Mangalore. This train will serve a large amount of passenger traffic to connect these districts of Karnataka. Indian Railways should definitely start this service.

On the practical front there is very little connectivity that Mangalore has on this route. The reason is a long term agreement between HMRDC and SWR which prevents more than 3 pairs of trains running on the Subramanya Road-Sakleshpur section. /search/2846/0/2847 As you can see from this link there are only three slots for trains plying on this route.
