Yup it was Proposed by British Engineer to connect Hyderabad with Mangalore via Wadi GADAG but Due to some non cooperation by Hyderabad Nizam that route left as it is and instead of that Kacheguda Guntakal born later on. so today they sanction it but that to on new route as Before it was Wadi to GADAG via Lingusgur Ilkal Gajendragad Naregal Betgeri to Gadag but now for Hyderabad Karnataka scope they changed route suddenly and made Yelburga kushtagi to Lingusgur. One more importance of this route from British period was Granites of Ilkal to Mangaluru but both the connections are not at all done until now..so ppl of Gajendragad Naregal fighting to give them theither long back railway line connection. You can see in budget they mentioned Gadag Wadi 252 km NL but it's actually Talkal Wadi taking place. No problem for that new route...
