------Need your help fellow RFs-------
Planning to go on a 8 - 10 day RF journey in June starting from Chennai. Since my mom works at SR, I have permission to use one pass for this. That is free 2A ticket and the pass route should not be greater than 15% than the shortest route. I want to cover the most amazing routes in IR and travel in the best trains. I came up with an itinerary myself and would love to hear suggestions from you. Pass route 1 is from SRR - MAO - PUNE - AGC - SVDK. Pass route 2 from SVDK - BZA - VSKP.

Kalka lies on the national highway between Chandigarh and Shimla. All buses that go to Shimla from Kalka come from Chandigarh 30 kilometres before Kalka. Chandigarh bus stand is the major originating / change over bus stand for tourist travelling towards Shimla. There is 24 hours bus service from Chandigarh to Shimla, but frequency is less in the odd hours. All types of buses including deluxe and Volvo buses are available from Chandigarh
As buses start from Chandigarh most of the seats get filled from Chandigarh itself so there is less chances of getting proper seats in buses from Kalka.

Perfect! Now should work on fitting Shimla in my travel plan. Thanks a lot for your help. If there are any other small detours that I can take, please let me know
Cab is preferable but costly. You can return by 52452 Shivalik Deluxe Exprss which arrives Kalka at 10:35pm, 1 hour 20 minutes before departure of Kalka Mail.
You can also catch the previous train, which arrives at Kalka at 9:15pm.
