if i am first time traveller in train, how i should know which station i have reached. is there any anouncement in the train?
1- watch out for name plates at stations
2- ask co-passengers / train staff
3- read display of place on your mobile phone

No there is no announcement on the trains, except in Rajdhanis/Shatabdis. There are some other trains where this is being slowly implemented, but not in all trains as yet. The best thing to do would be to print out the time table from this site, and carry it with you and check which station has been crossed. You will then be able to make up where you are at which point of time, and whether the train is on time or not.

just look out of the window and read the station name. The train starts to slow down immediately preceding the arriving station.
you can also but a Railway time table available at stations or you can take a print out of the schedule given in the website for the particular train and have an idea of the arriving station.
pl note that the train may be sometimes late -you can always get info abt the next stations from the co passengers also.

GR Coaches are also implemented wih Avg Moving & Next Station Distance Display, as in JBP-CSTM GR & they are quite right in their info!!!

Yup, I forgot the GRs. Thanks for pointing it out. Will be more careful to include this for running status displays. Good wishes.
